Don Smith

Don Smith - Counselor and President of Bridge To Life MinistriesDon Smith’s counseling is considered “pastoral counseling” which integrates a spiritual dimension and commitment to God in his approach. For over 35 years Don has come alongside individuals, offering hope and healing to those experiencing deep pain in their marriage. Don has a passion to see each person experience the fullness of who they were designed to be as individuals created in the image of God.  When a person knows what it means to be loved and valued, it frees them to pursue oneness in their marriage.  A marriage can be no better than the people in it. Don has a gentle way of helping individuals examine their personal lives and wounds that hinder them from loving well.

Don, an ordained pastor, received his B.A. in Biblical Studies at Big Sky Bible College in Lewistown, Montana in 1979. Don was pursuing a Master’s degree in counseling from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana until the program was moved to Colorado.  The training was under the direct teaching of Dr. Larry Crabb, Ph.D,  and Dr. Dan Allender, Ph.D., both nationally known psychologists and authors. Don’s personal life and marriage has been greatly impacted by these men and their teachings.

Because Don has seen God work in amazing ways in individualshearts that have brought healing to their marriages, Don never gives up on an individual or marriage. Don meets with husbands and wives together and individually to help them in their journey of healing.

Besides Don’s counseling sessions, he often encourages marriage partners to attend The Heart & Soul of a Real Marriage course.  Don has found that when a couple attends the classes along with their counseling, they tend to heal and grow more quickly and their marriage is stronger on a long term basis.

Bridge To Life networks with other psychiatrists, psychologists and resources if an individual needs help on a different level, Don will assist them in finding professional assistance.

Don’s suggested counseling fee is $65 per session. However, if individuals or couples have a financial hardship and are unable to pay the suggested fee, we will be glad to discuss your specific circumstances and income level to adjust your fee.  We never turn anyone away because of his or her inability to pay the full amount.

Don’s counseling sessions are scheduled for 50 minutes. You may call the Bridge To Life office to make an appointment with Don, at 616-846-1051.
